Bagged vs. Bagless Vacuums: How to Choose
It is one of the first questions people ask when they walk into our showroom: should I get a bagged or a bagless vacuum? There is no single right answer, but there is a right answer for you. Here is how to think about it.
The case for bagged
- Cleaner emptying. You lift out a sealed bag and toss it. The dust never gets a chance to escape, which is a big deal for allergy sufferers.
- Better filtration overall. The bag itself acts as the first stage of filtration, and self-sealing bags keep everything trapped.
- Less frequent maintenance. Larger bags mean you handle the dirt only every few weeks.
The case for bagless
- No bags to buy. You empty the bin and reuse it, which saves a small ongoing cost.
- You can see what you pick up. Some people like the visual feedback of a full bin.
The honest trade-off
Bagless models save you the cost of bags, but you pay for it in a dustier emptying process and filters that need regular cleaning or replacement to keep suction strong. Bagged models cost a little each year in bags, but they tend to run cleaner and ask less of you day to day.
If anyone in your home has allergies or asthma, we usually steer toward a quality bagged machine. If convenience and not buying bags matter most, a good bagless model can be a great fit. Come try both side by side and see which one feels right.
